Modules

1. Focusing ( K.C.Thomas M.Ph.)

Learning objectives

Based on research at the University of Chicago, focusing is a new technique of self therapy that teaches you to identify and change the way your personal problems concretely exists in your body.

2. Psycho-Sexual Integration and Celibacy: ( Joe Mannath Ph.D.)

 Learning Objectives: To  Finding Meaning, Happiness and Maturity in Celibate Life.
To clarify the key issues celibates (and others) face in the area of psycho-sexual development; to provide a right understanding of celibacy (meaning, motives, failures, helps for a happy celibate life); to learn how to handle problem areas such as, masturbation, sexual abuse, homosexuality; to provide helps for a healthy formation for celibacy; to look at the issues of intimacy and meaning in celibate life.

3. Psychosynthesis ( Devassy Chirakel M.A.)

Learning Objectives: The objective is to understand the simple yet profound essentials of psychosynthesis which are used with increasing frequency in both transpersonal and mainstream psychologies. The course is intented to provide an in-depth study of these ideas. Visualizations and self identifications will be used as tools to intensify learning and integrate it with the context of daily living.

4. Integral Spirituality – ( K C Thomas M.Ph.)

Learning Objective: To introduce to the students Integral Theory and Integral approach to spirituality combined with integral spiritual practice. The integral approach attempts to include and integrate matter, body, mind, soul and spirit. Each of these can be looked at from inside and outside in both individual and collective forms.

5.Holistic Meditations. ( K C Thomas M.Ph.)

Learning objective: The purpose of this module is to introduce to the students a series of therapeutic meditations for the integration of body, emotions and spirit leading to contemplative silence. These meditative exercises integrate Western therapeutic methods with contemplative methods of the mystical traditions in the light of Christian Theology and Science of meditation.

6. Core Transformation. ( K.C.Thomas  M.Ph. )

Learning objective: To help the participants to identify behaviours , feelings and responses they like least in themselves and use them on a remarkably healing and uplifting personal journey within, to the depths of one’s being into spiritual states of oneness, inner peace, love and inner worthiness.

7. Midlife Transition ( Bernadine Joseph M.A.)

Learning Objective: The participants are helped to accept that midlife path as a part of one’s human journey and to own the reality of this stage of developmental growth as a period of high integration. (i) Understanding the midlife years as a period of positive generativity (ii) Developmental tasks of midlife years. (iii) Characteristics of midlife changes (iv) Psycho-social crisis of midlife: generativity verses stagnation.(v) Proactive ways of facing midlife path. (vi) Befriending one’s shadows (vii) Inward journey through art therapy.

8. Basic skills in counselling . ( Teresa Mandakath MSW.)

Learning Objective. To equip the students with the basic skills of counselling. 1. Counsellor characteristics 2.. Micro-skills: Attending, pacing , listening responses: Clarification, closed questions, open questions, minimal probing, paraphrase, reflection of feelings, summarization. Influencing, leading and action responses: depth probe, directive, expression of content, expression of feelings, influencing summary, interpretation, confrontation, self-disclosure and information giving.

9. Group Therapy ( Thomas Varkey Ph.D. ,  K.C.Thomas M. Ph. )

Learning objective: To deal with the painful feelings in the painful scenes in one’s life. To work on one’s shadows.To understand oneself better. Integration of life experiences.Integrating different polarities of one’s personality. Our bodies: coming to terms with it. Significant relationship in our lives.

10. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Thomas Varkey Ph. D.

Learning Objective: To understand the different personality types, including one’s own and thus be able to appreciate the differences and learn to adapt in dealing with different types of persons. Doing the MBTI test with explanation of the 16 personality types and their characteristics

11. Meaningful Living – Logotherapy ( Jose Thannickal Ph.D.)

Learning Objective: Drawing upon  the writings of  Victor E. Frankl and his logotherapy, the course (i) imparts an understanding of  what gives meaning to one's life, (ii) helps to breakdown the elements of meaningfulness and examine one's present life-styles and, (iii) plan for better meaning and purpose.

12. Positive Psychology (Jilson George Ph. D.)

Learning objective: Positive Psychology, the scientific study of positive emotions, strength-based character, and healthy institutions, is founded on the belief that people want to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. This course will teach you how to access your strengths, balance immediate needs with long range goals and develop a resilient immune system based on optimism and self-esteem.

13. Feminine Psychology and Spirituality ( Daisy Isaac M. Ph. ICP)

Learning objective: Meaning making is an ongoing developmental process. Meaning is constructed to a large extent and constructed within specific contexts. This module attempts to bring home to men and women the awareness that women possibly follow a different path(from that of men) of growth and development as they struggle to construct meaning of who they are, what the other is and what the interrelationship among them is. What is often presented as normative and right development is from the context and experience of men. This module will engage the participant in an individual and collective search for the implications of this awareness on women’s attitude to themselves, their ideas about growth and spirituality (how they live their life and mission), and the way men and women relate to each other.

 

15. Jesus Prayer retreat ( Bosco Ponthokan M.A.)

Learning objective: In the post-modern world, where more and more sincere people drawn to genuine spirituality than merely institutional religion, contemplative methods assume ever greater significance. The prayer of the name of Jesus is probably one simplest and most traditional methods of contemplative prayer. Indeed it is insightfully observed that on the spiritual path, a new method is an old one grasped more deeply and practiced more passionately. This is the simple yet profound objective of the retreat. The Power of Jesus Prayer is never disputed by any one who practices it regularly and passionately.

16. Yoga ( C. Rajendran)

Learning objective: Yoga is one the six systems of India philosophy. The word ‘yoga’ comes from the Sanksrit root ‘yuj’ which means to unite; to bind together. It is the union between human and divine. Astanga Yoga of Patanjali Maharishi has got eight steps. The proper practice of it under a trained teacher will bring about well being of the body, mind and spirit i.e. it aims at the integral development of the person.
